Maharashtra weather is expected to be like a seesaw for the next couple of days. As on September 29, rains seem to have eased but experts are hinting at more rain starting September 30. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather forecast that mostly mentions calm weather with low or moderate rain. However a low-pressure system forming in the Bay of Bengal may increase rainfall across parts of the state from the evening of September 30.

Konkan Division forecast

Districts including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are likely to see thunderstorms with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds at isolated places. An orange alert is likely for Mumbai and some coastal areas from September 30 evening. Check official IMD updates here.

Pune Division forecast

Pune, Satara, Solapur, Sangli and Kolhapur are expected to get thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places. Pune city has no weather alert on September 29 with lighter spells, while heavier rainfall is likely in the ghats from September 30.

Nashik Division forecast

Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Ahmednagar may get light to moderate rain with thunderstorms. The ghats of Nashik may be under an orange alert from September 30 evening.

Marathwada forecast

Aurangabad, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani, Nanded, Latur, Osmanabad and Hingoli may experience light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms.

Vidarbha forecast

Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Amravati, Yavatmal, Akola, Washim, Buldhana, Bhandara and Gondia may witness thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places.

Expert view: Anupam Kashyapi

Former IMD official Anupam Kashyapi has a different view on Maharashtra weather forecast and he noted that rains have reduced temporarily as the system over Maharashtra weakened. He added that rainfall activity is likely to increase again from September 30 evening with the formation of a fresh low in the Bay of Bengal. According to him, Mumbai, the ghats of Pune and Nashik could see orange alerts, while Pune city remains under yellow alert on September 29.
