Mahindra Launches New Thar with Fresh Design, Comfort and Smart Tech at ₹9.99 Lakh

Iconic New Design

The New Thar carries forward its legendary presence with a bold new look. It now features a distinct front grille, dual-tone bumpers, and R18 alloy wheels. Inside, Mahindra has introduced an all-new black theme dashboard with a redesigned steering wheel, giving the cabin a more premium feel. Buyers can choose from six colours, including the newly introduced Tango Red and Battleship Grey.

Enhanced Comfort and Convenience

Mahindra has added several features to improve daily usability. Rear AC vents ensure a comfortable ride for second-row passengers, while the driver benefits from a sliding armrest and dead pedal (in automatic variants). Other highlights include door-mounted power windows, an internally operated fuel lid, rear-view camera, rear wash & wiper, and an A-Pillar entry assist handle for easier ingress and egress.

Smart Technology and Connectivity

The SUV is equipped with a 26.03 cm HD infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Type-C USB ports for both front and rear passengers, a Tyre Direction Monitoring System, and Adventure Stats Gen II provide real-time off-road data such as altimeter, temperature, trip meter, and steering direction. These features make the Thar both a smart urban companion and a capable adventure vehicle.

2.2L mHawk Diesel: 97 kW @ 3750 rpm; 300 Nm (MT & AT)
D117 CRDe Diesel: 87.2 kW @ 3500 rpm; 300 Nm (MT)

These engines are available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, in both RWD and 4WD configurations.

Safety and Features

The New Thar is packed with safety features such as dual airbags, ESP with roll-over mitigation, hill hold and descent control, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a rear demister. Higher trims also offer cruise control, electric ORVMs, moulded side steps, fog lamps with DRLs, tyre pressure monitoring, and a premium 6-speaker setup.
